ARTHRITIS PAIN RELIEF

Let Me Help

HOW TO TREAT ARTHRITIS?

There are many types of arthritis or joint inflammatory diseases.  A great effort has been made in pharmacological, surgical strategies and movement exposure to deal with arthritic symptoms and every avenue should be explored to find the appropriate solution that best fits the person.

The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases claims that, when done by a trained professional, methods like Neuromuscular massage can help control pain, increase joint motion, and improve muscle and tendon flexibility.

Patients should keep in mind that a massage is a complementary treatment, and is not meant to replace medication.

HOW DOES MASSAGE THERAPY WORK?

Research has shown that massage can lower the body’s production of the stress hormone cortisol while boosting production of serotonin, which can improve mood. Additionally, massage can lower production of the neurotransmitter substance P, often linked to pain, and improve sleep as a result.

USE CAUTION WHEN CONSIDERING MASSAGE IF YOU HAVE:

  • Damaged or eroded joints from arthritis

  • Flare of inflammation, fever or a skin rash

  • Severe osteoporosis (brittle bones)

  • High blood pressure

  • Varicose veins
